A memorable/persuasive commercial
When I think about a memorable commercial, I immediately think of this Budweiser commercial that played during the Super Bowl a few years ago. The commercial aims to tell a touching story, while subtlety putting the logo of the brand. The commercial starts off displaying the growth of an owner and its dog’s relationship. It builds up to the final scene that shows the owner leaving behind its dog at home, to go out with his friends. After what seems like several hours, the scene implies that the owner has irresponsibly driven under the influence and may have gotten into an accident. A blank screen with the text, “For some the waiting never ends, but we can change that”. The goal was to have a message at the end that stands out, which the commercial manages to do. However, it finally shows the owner arriving home with the dog ecstatic for his arrival. The man says, “Hey, I’m sorry. I decided I shouldn’t drive home last night and stayed at Dave’s”. To sum up, the main idea is to avoid drinking and driving because you have others relying on you to make it home safely. The main factor of this being a memorable commercial is its cuteness factor. The cuteness factor is obviously the white puppy, because almost everyone likes puppies. The most memorable moment is the puppy being upset that the owner will not be coming back, which makes the commercial emotionally touching. Lastly, at the very end, Budweiser displays its logo. Therefore, whenever someone recalls this advertisement, the last thing they will remember is the Budweiser logo, which will make the viewer more inclined to purchase the product. Overall, the commercial is relevant and is something that you can share with others and hits all the characteristics needed for a persuasive commercial.
